PLAY FOR PEACE (E L G T Y)
This workshop will be jam packed with the best experiential activities out there, all hands-on and all FUN. Each will support a positive and peaceful environment in your classroom, youth group, workplace or playground! Activities will foster awareness and inclusion of diverse groups through icebreakers, problem solving, communications, and debriefing. Come prepared to play a lot and learn even more with Jayne Roth.
DANCING DOLLS & WALKING STICKS ( E L)
Walking and laughter are great exercise for the heart. Participants in this class will learn the use of simple hand tools and a couple very basic power tools to create a beautiful laminated walking stick that will make hiking and walking more enjoyable, as well as create a Dancing Doll (Appalachian toy/Rhythm instrument) that will lighten the heart of the maker and those who watch it being played. Participants will turn “sweat equity” into “pride in mastering new skills” in creating two useful, beautiful and joyful projects. All tools and materials provided. CREATING A CULTURE OF SUCCESS (E L G T Y)
Ever wonder why some places seem to attract and keep the best staff? Ever go somewhere and just had a feeling that you were in the presence of something special with the staff? This session will cover all the aspects used to create a culture of success that your group will want to come back to and that will show in everything they do - be it at camp, as a 4-H Club or a staff team in any situation. This session will give practical ways to create the culture with philosophy, games and activities that will build your team for success for now and into the future.
This is a session which would use games and activities to illustrate the importance of creating a culture within your group to strengthen your group for the long term and allow your organization to benefit for years to come through having a leaders creating leaders type of focus and culture. PIECES TO THE PROGRAM PUZZLE (E L G T Y)
Are you in a position to prepare and present programs for children, teens or adults? Are you looking for help in presenting these programs? Come to this class where we will explore ideas of what pieces make up a program and how to put those pieces together to make a quality program. We will even have an opportunity to plan and present a program for the workshop. If you are looking for an answer to the programming problem please come to class and learn the answer from Tim Borton and Jordan LeFevre.
FREE-STYLE WEAVING (E T Y)
Explore the ancient art of weaving by creating your own masterpiece in a circle. Class participants will have the opportunity to choose their own colors and design to create their off-loom weaving. You may choose to make a tree of life, a mandala or any free-form weaving using a variety of yarns and fibers. Karen Saker will guide you as you let your spirit flow into your own unique creation. RECREATIONAL DANCE (E L M T Y)
This session will include basic instructions and hands-on experience on how to teach line, circle and square dances. We will dance lots of dances and everyone who has interest will have time to lead/teach a dance or two to the class. Music and instructions to many of the dances will be available to purchase at the BLW bookstore. Barry Jolliff and Christy Leeds would love to dance with you!
STRIP T's QUILT (E L T Y)
T is for Triangles. We’ll cut some strips of fabric, sew them into strip rows, cut a few triangles and then play with multiple design possibilities. The coloration, number of fabrics and quilt size are some of the creative choices for you to make! You’ll need one light and one dark fabric for each strip, but the contrast may be high, low or medium. For example, choose one light fabric and then several shades of a second one. The fun never ends with Edith Dyke!
SHOOTING SPORTS (E L G T Y)
Learn basic shooting sports safety, techniques and practices. Details still to be arranged. Cost to be determined at a later date. The students will become familiar with rifles, shotguns and archery as local site permission will allow. Contact Chuck Wurth at 419-237-2247 or
